Robert Schumann saw “himmlische Längen” – “celestial lengths” – in it and it is true that there is something timeless, suspended, in Schubert’s Trio, Op. 100, especially in its central Andante con moto and its haunting rhythm in a minor key hammered out by the piano, which became widely known in 1975 thanks to Stanley Kubrick’s film “Barry Lyndon”. Did you know that Schubert borrowed the theme from a traditional Swedish song, “Se solen sjunker” – “Watch the sun go down”? An exhortation that we will gladly follow, especially if this sun indeed points, as here, to three exceptional “magi”: violinist Isabelle Faust, cellist Sol Gabetta and pianist Bertrand Chamayou.

Marvelous performance!
Fantastic musicians! great music!
SELEÇÃO DE COMPOSIÇÕES ÓTIMAS, PERFORMANCE EXCELENTE
Beautiful music beautifully played. Wonderful to hear richness of the Bluthner rather than more industrial sound of a Steinway.
First time I heard three performers together, and they truly speak in one voice. I must also add that sound quality is such that I felt as I was attending the actual performance. Many, many thanks for providing great concerts to people like me.
