In the first part of the concert, Piemontesi performed Claude Debussy’s second, lesser-known book of Préludes from 1913. Here, the pianist not only impressed with his outstanding virtuosity: He mastered the extremely demanding pieces so effortlessly that the audience almost forgot how complex Debussy’s compositions are. More importantly, Piemontesi succeeded in presenting the magical colour spectrum in Debussy’s work in all its shades and nuances.
