Artist in Residence 2023
Francesco Piemontesi is representing Switzerland in all parts of the world. Hailed for the finesse of his interpretations of the great piano “classics”, this disciple of Alfred Brendel will showcase all the facets of his talent this summer during a four-concert residency, which will see him perform in turn as a soloist, in a duo (with Sol Gabetta – 25 July), in a trio (with Francesca Dego and Daniel Müller-Schott – 21 July) and in an orchestra concerto (Mozart with the Freiburger Barockorchester – 22 July). He will begin his journey in Zweisimmen with a gradient of styles and periods: the foundations of the keyboard with the great Bach (in the original version but also revisited by two giants of the following centuries), the dawn of Romanticism with Schubert’s final sonata, and the prelude reinvented by Debussy, master of musical impressionism.
