Born in Zurich in 2007 to a Latvian mathematician mother and a Swiss jazz musician, Ilva Eigus is an extraordinary talent. She has been a student of Liana Tretiakova at the Zakhar Bron School of Music in Zurich for more than ten years, and at the same time she is studying at a college for artists and top athletes. She makes her debut in Gstaad in a highly demanding programme in which she honoured one of the greatest works of 20^th century violin literature, Eugène Ysaÿe’s Six Sonatas for Solo Violin, the fourth of which, dedicated to Fritz Kreisler, was chosen for a “dialogue” with Mendelssohn and Prokofiev.
